Isaan Reality Stay

We are in the process of developing an Isaan home stay program. The idea is to offer people a chance to experience what life is really like in Northeast Thailand. It is not for ordinary tourists, but rather those who want the chance to meet and learn from locals.

There are no tours of temples, elephant rides, shopping for souvenirs or other tourist activites. We think those things are fine and fun, but what we do is different.

There are essentially no toursits where we live -- Khukhan in Si Saket Province. Thus, what we offer is a chance to be a part of what rural Thai people do in their daily lives.

What you do, including just taking it easy, is up to you. We can help you plan something or you can take it day by day. Stay for as long or short a time as you wish. Some of the things you can see, do and learn are:

*Making handwoven silk
*Seeing people work in the rice paddies and even giving it a try if you like.
*Staying in a market town and watching the daily activites of merchants and farmers who come for supplies.
*Visiting, and even staying in, a remote farm village with a Thai family -- not a guest house.
*Eating and learning how to cook Isaan (especially Khmer) style food -- some of it very exotic, like snakes, lizards and bugs. Of course we can make regular Thai food and western food too, if the idea of eating snakes doesn't appeal to you.
*If you haven't had enough temples and waterfalls, we have those too -- but with no foreign toursts to speak of. Some of the temples are quite different -- like one that is made entirely of bottles.
